Associate Regional Director General – West and North, Environment & Climate Change Canada
Based in Edmonton, Cheryl represents the interests of Environment and Climate Change Canada within the region (which includes Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Northwest Territories and Nunavut). She is responsible for a number of key departmental initiatives and files including the Lake Winnipeg Basin Initiative, the Prairie Provinces Water Board, and the Mackenzie River Basin Board, in addition to serving as a departmental contact point for stakeholders across the region.
Cheryl completed a BSc and MSc in Microbiology and Cell Biotechnology at the University of Alberta with a focus on environmental microbiology. Outside of the office, Cheryl has a busy family with her husband Jay, active boys Evan (age 7) and Ryan (age 1) and equally active dogs that enjoy various types of dog training including agility.
