CleanBus.caDiesel Particulate Filter (DPF) Test ProjectThe Clean Air Strategic Alliance’s (CASA) vehicle emissions team and several partners worked together to evaluate if DPFs can work effectively during Canada’s winter months and reduce transportation emissions. There have been many technological advances to help reduce pollutants from cars, trucks, and other types of vehicles. Now there is technology called the diesel particulate filter (DPF) to reduce emissions from some heavy-duty diesel-powered vehicles. The one-year project took place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada from January 2003 to February 2004. Two Edmonton Transit System (ETS) buses were retrofitted with DPFs. |
